Marine Corps' Revamped Lunga Park Reopens After Explosives Closed It For Decade
Marine Corps Base Quantico's Lunga Park has been dormant for a decade, but later this month, the Triangle park will reopen to the public with a grand celebration.
The original recreation area, formerly known as Lunga Recreation Area, is located on the west side of Marine Corps Base Quantico, and will reopen Friday, May 26.
A grand reopening celebration featuring a BBQ cook-off, rock climbing, free fishing, free watercraft rentals, and more will be held June 3 and 4.
The park spans more than 680 acres and includes the reservoir, which had been a favorite spot for local residents.

Murphy Details Stages Leading To New Normal In NJ
Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday revealed the steps to New Jersey's "new normal," in announcing the signing of an executive order allowing additional outdoor recreation areas and businesses to reopen.
The goal moving forward is protecting New Jersey's workforce, the governor said.
"Together, we’re moving toward what we must all acknowledge will be a 'new normal,'" Murphy said. "We’re not nearly out of the woods yet, but we’re moving forward, carefully, methodically, and responsibly."
